Alonissos

Alonissos is a peaceful, unspoilt island offering the chance to experience authentic Greece and outstanding natural beauty. As part of a Marine Park the crystal clear sea offers excellent swimming in the many beautiful quiet bays and coves. Fabulous walking on the marked trails that criss cross the island through pine forests, ravines and along the coast. Old Village perched on the hilltop has breathtaking views in all directions and has several wonderful tavernas, small supermarket, bakery, gelateria, small shops and a gallery. Patitiri, the bustling little port town is 12 km by road and has numerous tavernas and cafes, several supermarkets, 2 bakeries, butchers, bank, post office, medical centre. Easy day trips to beaches, Marine Park islands or to Skopelos can be booked. The pretty harbour village of Steni Vala further along the coast has good waterside tavernas and a diving centre. A car is recommended to explore the island but not essential as there is a bus and taxi service.
